Why World Missions?
We believe that God offers to everyone forgiveness, peace, joy, purpose, love, meaning in life and the promise of heaven when life is over by entering and experiencing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are called to take this message to people everywhere. Our mission is to make Christlike disciples in the nations. As a part of the Church of the Nazarene, Turning Leaf Community helps support approximately 462 Career Missionaries plus 262 Mission Corps volunteers in 159 world areas.
A Tradition of Service
Nazarenes have been instrumental in assisting people in every part of the globe who have been affected by war, famine, hurricane, flood and other natural and man-made disasters through 245 full-time compassionate ministries centers and volunteer efforts.
The worldwide network of Nazarene churches makes it possible for the denomination to serve as a conduit of assistance to hurting nations. Nazarenes provide money for food, medical supplies, clothing and other items to persons in a number of countries where there are pressing needs. In addition, the denomination’s missionary infrastructure is often used by World Relief and similar agencies when they need assistance in getting supplies to people in remote or troubled areas.
At Turning Leaf Church we are always trying to help those in our local neighborhood as well as sending our local members around the world to go and serve people in need.
Bruce and Cinda McKellips: serving in Lisbon, Portugal assisting on the West Mediterranean Field.
Jenny Songsawangphaiboon: serving as a Bible surveyor in Thailand.
Nancy Butler: serving Native Americans here in Arizona.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries
Nazarene Child Sponsorship exists to advocate for children who are destitute. (In 2009, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries’ Child Development program provided more than 12,000 sponsorships and nutritional assistance in over 80 countries.)
Turning Leaf also provides money to Nazarene Disaster Relief which is a denominationally supported network of disaster volunteers who respond to victims of natural and human-made disaster.
